Lakshmi meaning “Goddess of Prosperity” is a 40 something! female, the matriarch of our herd, Lakshmi has many talents, she is MEF’s very own film star and has starred in over 25 international films including Tarzan the Ape Man. She is also one of our resident painters producing works of art in association with the Asian Elephant Art and Conservation Project. Lakshmi’s proudest claim to fame is that she gave birth to the first domesticated elephant in Sri Lanka, her beloved daughter Pooja below is also resident at MEF.
