Although Rani is on her late 20’s she is a gentle but playful youngster who came to the MEF in 2002 when her owners found that it had become too difficult to look after her but they visit her regularly. A very charming lady who adores her mahout Chandana, they know lots of tricks!
Her name means “Queen”, a woman of high power and is a perfect given the dramatic markings that frame her eyes, our own supermodel!
Rani enjoys the company of people, Pooja and her favourite treat of lemon puff biscuits which she is often rewarded after finishing another masterpiece for the Asian Elephant Art and Conservation Project. She is not so keen on the monitor lizard when he performs his daily river checks.
